Cleaning Out My Closet

24 Feb

Closet

I was doing chores around the house yesterday.

I’d just finished up in the kitchen and was turning the corner to go back into my office to do some more writing, when the overpowering urge to clean out the bedroom closet hit me. Because I’ve decided to just go with impulses like this, I grabbed some garbage bags from the hall closet and went into the bedroom.

About an hour later, I’d filled five bags with stuff I wanted to get rid of.

A couple of them were clothes to send to Goodwill, but the others were just things I simply didn’t need or want anymore.

It was such a frenzy of piling, sorting, and making snap decisions that I didn’t even really grasp what was happening until it was over. The catharsis of having done it didn’t even really hit me until today when I opened the closet to get out some clothes and saw that half of it was gone.

I have to say, I’m pretty pleased with myself.

Question of the Day

Question

Many people choose to give something up for the 40-day period known as Lent that starts today. If you observe this custom, what are you giving up and why? If you don’t, tell us what you could never give up for 40 days.

Answer

In 2001, I met someone online who would go on to change the course of my life completely. There are times I wish he hadn’t come into my life when he did because I can see myself as a much happier person in that alternate time line.

The Internet has brought more pain than joy into my world and I have to wonder what my life would be like without it.

I would give up the Internet if I could.

Sing Along

Sing

It’s easy. The second verse is the same as the first. It’s also not a long song, and the lyrics are repeated often, so it’s easy to pick up.

Hi.

I think this is my 4837th attempt to maintain a blog and the worst part about doing it, beyond writing the about page, is writing the first post.

If you’ve been with me for a while, then you know the story by now. I’m an aspiring screenwriter and I also like to blogging because it helps to keep me writing even when there isn’t something creative to work on.

I’m also pretty awesome.

The difference this time is, there will be more of an emphasis on my writing and less on the crazy antics of my personal life. I also want to flex my “critical bitch” muscles a little, so there will be reviews of movies and such.
