Gasping for Air

I’m sort of in a “good news, bad news” sort of place this morning.

The good news is, the pills I was given yesterday to repair the torn muscle in my neck have worked wonders. Praise be to (insert your preferred deity name here) my will to live has returned.

The bad news is, between the muscle relaxers and sleeping flat on my back to keep my neck muscles lax, I realized I have sleep apnea. Twice last night, I stopped breathing in my sleep and woke up gasping for air. And one of these times, there was a particularly horrible nightmare along with it.

Yikes! I have this periodically myself, especially when I sleep on my back (which I try not to do) and it’s no fun. So far I’ve not had it in connection with a nightmare though, which sounds really nasty.
